What January actually feels like

January is the deepest swell month on this coast. Long-period North Atlantic lines reach Anchor Point, Killer Point and Boilers far more often than they rest, and the right-hand points can run for several days in a row. Air sits around 8–21 °C and the sea near 18 °C, so a 3/2 covers almost every session. Rain comes in short bursts across about five days. The village is full of surfers, not sunbathers.

January questions

Is January too big for an intermediate surfer in Taghazout?

Not automatically. On the biggest days the points are advanced-only, but Devil's Rock, Banana Point and Tamri usually hold a workable intermediate size on the same swell. Book a week rather than three days so you can pick your day.

Do I need a 4/3 wetsuit in January?

No. Sea temperature stays near 18 °C, which is 3/2 territory. Cold-sensitive surfers doing two long sessions a day sometimes add 3 mm boots, mostly for the rocky point entries rather than for warmth.

Will it rain enough to ruin a January week?

Rarely. January averages around five rain days, usually short and heavy rather than all-day. The bigger weather variable is wind: a few days each month go onshore by mid-morning, which is when Imsouane Bay earns its reputation.

Is January a good month for Taghazout?

Yes, if its season profile matches your priority: surf, beach comfort, family time, remote work or a slower coastal week.

Should I choose accommodation before checking the forecast?

Choose the stay location for the week first, then use the forecast to shape each surf or activity day.

Do I need a live forecast after choosing the month?

Yes. The month helps with the travel window; the forecast decides the daily surf and activity plan.

How much does a Taghazout stay cost?

For 7 nights per person in a standard shared room: surf from €545, yoga and surf from €515, cowork and stay from €456. Cowork for 28 nights starts at €1824. Prices adapt to the requested nights and room category. Your request is subject to review. We check availability and confirm your reservation before enabling deposit payment.
