What kind of wave is Cro-Cro?
Cro-Cro is a beach break with shifting peaks over sand. Cro-Cro needs a swell from WSW–NW (245°–320°) at 0.4–1.4 m and 7–13 s to switch on. The wind decides as much as the swell: Cro-Cro holds its shape from the NE–SE sector (45°–135°) and goes ragged once it swings onshore. Cro-Cro takes its name from the rocks along its beach, which look like crocodile heads from the water.
What tide does Cro-Cro work on?
Cro-Cro wants a pushing tide, best from rising to high. On a low tide Cro-Cro tends to dump on the sand and close out; the wave opens up again once the water starts pushing. You get into Cro-Cro off the beach and walk out.
Who should surf Cro-Cro, and how busy is it?
Cro-Cro suits beginners and intermediates. Cro-Cro fills up when the forecast is obvious and empties again when it is not. At Cro-Cro the things to watch are the rock heads on the beach itself. If Cro-Cro is too big, too crowded or simply wrong on the day, Devil’s Rock is the nearest useful swap, and a guided session from our own desk puts a local in the water with you rather than sending you out cold.

Cro-Cro surf forecast — quick questions
Can a beginner surf Cro-Cro?
Yes. Cro-Cro breaks over sand, so a fall costs a mouthful of water rather than skin, and it is one of the spots a first week here is actually built around. Once it is bigger than shoulder-high, Agadir Beach is the softer option.
How cold is the water at Cro-Cro, and what wetsuit do I need?
The sea off Cro-Cro runs about 17–19 °C from December to March and 21–23 °C in late summer. That is the figure for this whole stretch of coast rather than a reading taken at the spot, so plan on a 4/3 mm wetsuit in winter and a 3/2 mm or a springsuit in September. Today's measured sea temperature is in the live board above this guide.
